Routes To Abbotsholme

Abbotsholme is well served by road, rail and air routes.

By road
Abbotsholme is located just north of the A50, a major arterial route-way that connects the M1 in the east to the M6 in the west.

From M1 North: turn off at Junction 24 and take the A50 towards Stoke-on-Trent. At Uttoxeter, take the B5030 northwards. * When on the B5030, travel for about 3 miles until the JCB World Headquarters is reached. Turn right into Rocester village, right at the mini roundabout in the village centre and continue along this road for about 1 mile. Abbotsholme School is signposted on the right.

From M1 South: follow the directions as above.

From M6 North: turn off at Junction 15 and follow the A50 to Uttoxeter. At Uttoxeter, take the B5030 northwards and follow the directions from * above.

From M6 South: turn off at Junction 14 and follow the northern bypass at Stafford. Continue until Staffordshire University is reached and join the A518 to Uttoxeter. Follow the signs until the Uttoxeter bypass is reached and then join the B5030. Follow the directions from * above.

By rail
The railway line between Derby and Manchester passes through Uttoxeter station. Derby has frequent services to St. Pancras in London and also north to Sheffield, Leeds, York, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and the east of Scotland. Stoke-on-Trent has services to Birmingham, to Euston in London and north to Manchester, Preston, Carlisle and the west of Scotland. A bus service to Derby station can be provided at each half term and also at the end of each term. A taxi service from Uttoxeter station can also be arranged for pupils.

By air
Abbotsholme is well placed for access from some of the biggest airports in the UK, including Birmingham (49 miles), Manchester (60 miles), Sheffield (45 miles) and East Midlands (31 miles). Manchester airport can be particularly useful since there is a direct train service to Uttoxeter station.

Taxis can be arranged to collect pupils and their luggage from any of these airports.
